Kremer's Confidence Pool Rules
NCAA men's basketball tournament
Let's join the big dance: Rules of postseason play.
- You must be logged in to see the entry Rule No. 1. Please e-mail kremer@kremersconfidencepool.com if you have any questions.
- Fill out your bracket and pick the winner of the tournament. Rank the teams you've picked to win from 32 to 1 in order of your confidence, assigning the most points to the team or teams you believe will advance the furthest in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. (Put these ranking numbers down in the margins next to the teams on the bracket.) For example, if you believe Team A is going to win the tournament, give Team A 32 points; if you like Team B to finish second, give Team B 31 ... and so on down the line. If it helps, fill out your bracket, then go back and assign points. ONLY assign points to a team you have winning in the first round.
- You score when the teams you have advancing in the bracket advance in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. (Example: Team A beats Team D; you have Team A down for 32 points. You are credited with those 32 points; if Team A loses and you have Team A in the second round on your bracket sheet, you get no points.) For a more detailed scoring example, click here.
- NOTE: Points in Elite Eight games will be worth 1.5 times the assigned value, points in the Final Four games will be worth 2 times the assigned value, and points for the overall champion will be worth 2.5 times the assigned value.
- There will be an additional bonus awarded for getting an entire round correct of 32 points. This bonus applies to all rounds, including the championship game. (Example: Pick all 8 of the Elite Eight teams correctly, receive an additional 32 points on top of your score)
- You must be logged in to see the entry Rule No. 6. Please e-mail kremer@kremersconfidencepool.com if you have any questions.
- In the event of a tie or ties, final point totals matching exactly, the first method of breaking ties will be to look at who correctly picks the tournament champion. The second method of breaking ties will be to look at the Final Four and see who has the most teams correctly picked in their Final Four then the Elite Eight and so on until winners are determined.
- In the event a bracket is turned in and is incomplete (i.e., somebody forgets to fill out a space), no points will be awarded for that spot on the bracket. In the event of other strange circumstances, the pool judges' rulings will prevail.
- Remember to include your name and e-mail to receive updated standings.
For those of you scoring your brackets at home, points in Kremer's Confidence Pool are awarded according to the following schedule:
Round | Correct Pick |
---|---|
Round of 64 | 1.0 x Confidence Points Assigned |
Round of 32 | 1.0 x Confidence Points Assigned |
Sweet Sixteen | 1.0 x Confidence Points Assigned |
Elite Eight | 1.5 x Confidence Points Assigned |
Final Four | 2.0 x Confidence Points Assigned |
Championship Game | 2.5 x Confidence Points Assigned |
NOTE: Per Rule 5 (below), for any of the six (6) rounds, if you get every game right in the round (regardless of how many games are in a given round), you get an additional 32 point bonus. So if you pick all 32 winners from the Round of 64 correctly, you get 32 points. If you pick the Championship Game correctly, you get 32 points.
